I was medacated at a young age. i still take Vyvanse to this day and its a life saver. Im 4.0, student council, still kinda dumb, but Super creative. If i dont take it, I physically cant get work done and im behind by a whole day in productivity, I just need to be doing something FUN when I'm off it. I look at work, and it's not even like a turn off feeling, but like a positive "nope im not gonna do that". But yes, Vyvance is the wheel, you still need to drive it. Back in the day I took the train to commute to work. At some point they did some maintenance construction on the way and there was a rail replacement bus service. One day, when they opened up the first tracks again i decided to see if my train was going again because it's much faster than the bus. Arriving at the platform there was indeed my train. It said 'do not enter' but since it was commuting between those stops I thought it meant, that they go back in the opposite direction - thats what it did before. So I jumped in after everyone else left the train. The doors closed behind me and the lights went out. Of course the doors didn't open when I pushed the button. I thought about what to do next - sit there and wait and be late to work? Do some explaining when the train staff finds me sitting there in the empty train? I'm also very shy but in the end I decided to knock on the driver's cab. A very tall and large man opened the door and stared down on me in silence. Adderall is Amphetamine, and Vyvanse is Lisdexamfetamine. The difference is that Lisdexamfetamine is amphetamine but with some stuff (a common amino acid) attached. Your body breaks this amino acid off, and you're left with the Amphetamine. The active difference is that Adderall dumps all the amphetamine into your bloodstream all at once, while Vyvanse slowly releases it over the course of about 10 hours. This makes Adderall last about 3-4 hours, and Vyvanse 13-14 hours.

For the past like 6 months my brain keeps replaying the feeling of licking a bedsheet to me it’s horrible. Also sometimes I get physical reactions to bad sensory stuff (like touching food that used to be solid that is now a liquid) and when that happens I sometimes full force thundercunt my hand toward the nearest wall! 😁

I’ve never gotten detention, but I was once threatened with it because I dropped my pen under my desk (which was part of a group of like 5 desks), went to pick it up, the teacher was glaring at me when I came back up and said “do you need to go to detention?” And I’m sitting here like ‘is she fr’ and she said I would go to detention if I didn’t answer so ofc I answered no. Then she said “well you will of you keep up this behaviour” WOMAN WHAT DO YOU MEAN I AM BEING AN AGEK CHILD I DO NOT DESERVE THE SHAME THE WHOLE CLASS WAS STARING AT ME EHUGHGH 🥺

My own experience with: Adderall, Ritalin, Strattera, Guanfacine, Vyvanse, and now Dexedrine. Yes. Quite a journey since 2013 - initial diagnosis out of nowhere. If you lose focus on this message, no worries - understandable 😆 To preface, I moved a lot so I had various psychiatrists. With Adderall - it was great for a few years! Until it wasn’t… When I moved overseas, Adderall wasn’t available so I switched to Ritalin with a new doctor which did absolutely nothing for me. Moved back to the states & back to Adderall! But then it wasn’t working like before. My focus was gone, even that burst of energy too. So the new psych switched me to Strattera…which also wasn’t effective. Next: Vyvanse. It kinda helped..? I was desperate to figure out the med for me, so when I moved again, I switched again under recommendation by new psych. Guanfacine worked better-ish! But I STILL couldn’t focus. It would make me lethargic through the day so we added a bit of afternoon immediate release. Eh, worked a tad. I started to think my brain was broken. I just needed to FOCUS (& stop crashing in the afternoon). I had to move overseas again so I had to choose a diff med (not manufactured there, neither was Adderall). But I thought my brain was broken anyway by this point. The limited list had an option I never heard of before & the only one I haven’t tried. My psych recommended it immediately - something I haven’t heard of: Dexedrine. It apparently used to be *the* med for ADHD before Adderall became a household name by big pharma. I’ve been on it this year and I believe it’s def the most helpful. It doesn’t give the kick of jittery energy like Adderall but it really helps me focus. It’s not perfect but it’s been the most effective in so many years. Bottom line (if anyone is still reading), the “right” meds may take years to figure out. I found out from my current psych that Adderall’s effects wear off over time. Also, if one psych isn’t supporting you in the way you need medically, consider looking elsewhere.
